OPC FAQs

OPC FAQs

What is an OPC supplement?
Food supplements containing OPCs are comprised of the three most powerful bioflavonoids called Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins (OPCs). OPCs are essentially extracts from grape seed, red wine and/or pine bark.

What is a bioflavonoid?
Complex organic plant compounds found in fruits and vegetables are known as Bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids help to boost the body's immune system.

How do OPCs work?
Our bodies are made up of countless molecules held together by chemical bonds created by paired electrons. When molecules in our body lose an electron and become imbalanced, they are called free radicals. Free radicals can be caused by any number of negative influences on the body. Just one free radical can damage millions of molecules leading to ailments. OPCs help attack and destroy free radicals, promoting healthier living.

Are OPCs safe?
Yes. OPCs have been used for decades and have been the subject of extensive research. OPCs do not cause birth defects, allergies, or cancer. There have been limited reports of nausea from those taking OPCs.

Can Diabetics take OPCs?
In most cases, yes, although it is important to consult your physician first. Because OPCs can counteract vision and circulation problems associated with Diabetes, many Diabetics have made OPCs part of their diet.

How long do OPCs remain in the body?
OPCs work by circulating through bodily fluids and attaching to collagen for approximately 72 hours before it is gradually excreted through perspiration and urination.

Should everyone take OPC supplements?
Research has shown that OPCs are strong antioxidants and can greatly increase the effectiveness of Vitamins E and C. No one is immune to the damage caused by free radicals and oxidative stress. Therefore, everyone can benefit from OPCs.

Can OPC supplements be taken with steroids?
No, take one or the other and be sure to be off any steroids for at least 4 to 6 weeks before taking any OTC supplements.

Are chemicals used in processing OPC supplements?
Water, Butanol, and Acetone are often used in the extraction process of OPCs, but evaporate before the process is complete. OPCs are 100% natural.

Do OPC supplements contain beta-carotene?
No.

Do OPC supplements contain caffeine?
No.
